Frame Friends

These instructions are for our Frame Friends. These are designed to be stitched on craft foam. You can view our Frame Friends by clicking here.

Step 1:

I used sticky tear away stabilizer for this project. You can use tear away also. Hoop your stabilizer. If using self adhesive stabilizer, tear away the paper to expose the stabilizer. If using standard tear away, spray a light coat of adhesive onto the stabilizer. Be sure to use adhesive for embroidery because other adhesives can gum up your needle. I used craft foam purchased from Michael's, but you can find it in almost any store. Cut a piece of foam to fit inside your hoop. I try to use colors to closely match the thread I'm using.

Step 2:

Select the first design (face). Position the design on your foam. Stitch out your design.

Step 3:

Cut another piece of foam and hoop the same as you did in Step 1. Select the second design (hands and feet). Position the design on your foam. Stitch out your design.

Step 3: After your design is complete, cut around your design. Careful not to cut the thread. If you want to cover the back side, lay your pieces on cardstock. Trace each piece and cutout. Glue the cardstock to the back. Allow to dry. Apply glue (recommended for the frame you're using) on the back of your pieces. Attach to frame. Below, I purchased this acrylic frame for $1.00.
