Christmas Photo Frames Instructions

Instructions for the photo ornaments

Step 1:

Included in each folder of designs, you will find a PDF image to print. These PDF images are used for templates for cutting your fabric. You will need Acrobat Reader to view and print the template PDF. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free by visiting  http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Once you have printed your template, you can continue with the instructions.

 Step 2:

You will need to trim your template around the lines. I prefer to trim before placing on my fabric simply to save on fabric and stabilizer. If you choose to trim only, don't cut too close the lines.

NOTE: When cutting your templates and fabric, always trim on the OUTSIDE of the lines or your fabric will not fit properly.

NOTE: In most of these designs, you will need to use the same color bobbin thread as much of the designs are seen.

Step 1 and 2 apply to all template files that you receive with our designs.

Photo Ornaments or Magnets

Step 1

Print your template and trim. The ornament has two pieces to be cut, one for the front and one for the back. Remember to trim on the outside of your lines. Use spray adhesive to adhere your template to your fabric, but only for a temporary hold. Remove paper template after you've completed cutting.

Step 2

Hoop tear away stabilizer. Start step one in your machine. This will stitch an outline as a guide for you. Place the front piece of fabric, the one with the hole, onto the outline. The next step tacks the fabric

Step 3

Continue throughout the next steps of your design, depending on which design you're stitching. Once you get to the step to tack on the back fabric (shown in your chart image that comes with the files), stop your machine BEFORE this step.

Step 4

Once you reach the step for "tacking your back fabric", stop your machine and remove the hoop. Do not unhoop. If you have not done so, size and cut your image for your hole. You can also remove the stabilizer ONLY in the hole, nowhere else, or you can wait until you've completed to remove the stabilizer. You will want to use tape or adhesive to attach your image.

If you're creating an ornament, now is the time to also place your ribbon. You can view some of the other projects if you need photos of this step. Cut ribbon to desired length. Tape to the back side of design. Your finish stitch will sew in the ribbon.

After you've placed and secured your photo and ribbon, place the second piece of fabric on the back side of your hoop by lining up with the outline already stitched. Lightly spray with adhesive, and place the fabric in place.

Now replace your hoop and continue the tack stitch and the finish stitch.

Remove your ornament from the hoop once all stitching is complete. Remove stabilizer.
